There’s probably no place on earth more idyllic than the fabled and sun-soaked Greek islands. But most people don’t know where to start when it comes to planning a trip to this magical region.

 

Of course, you have heard of happening Mykonos and romantic Santorini ---located in the lovely Cyclades Islands, these two are probably the most famous with their sparkling white buildings, blue roofs and clear waters.

 

The Saronic Gulf Islands are close to Athens and can be reached from Piraeus by hydrofoil. On tiny Hydra, you’ll travel by horse drawn carriage – no cars allowed. Poros is a sailing hub and Aegina has sandy beaches and an ancient temple to visit.

 

Corfu is in the Ionian islands and the Old Town is a UNESCO site. The largest island in this chain is gorgeous Kefalonia where you find wild horses running free. Several other pristine islands make up this chain and several have airports connecting you with the mainland.
